Founded in 1973 by Jos Roquette and Joaquim Bandeira, Esporos mission is to make the finest wines from what nature provides, in a responsible and inspiring way.

Today, they are one of the leading wine companies in Portugal and one of the largest organic wine producers in the world. Playing a key role in the national and international promotion of Alentejo, but also present in the Douro and Vinho Verde regions, Esporo has become an ambassador of Portuguese culture, developing its activities in a sustainable manner, whilst building close relationships with clients and consumers all over the world.

Located in the Vinho Verde demarcated wine region, Quinta do Ameal is a historic property with records dating back to 1710. It is unique not only because of its beauty,but due to its location in the Lima sub-region, birthplace of the Loureiro grape variety.

Vineyards

Sourced from own vineyard in the sub-region of Lima Valley, planted on deep, fertile granite soil.

Vinification

Manual harvest, pneumatic pressing of whole grapes. Cold decanting of the must for 24 hours. Fermentation at a controlled temperature 10 15C for 12 to 15 days. In contact with the lees for about 6 months in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature.

Tasting Notes

Nose is dominated by citrus fruits and floral notes. On the palate it is vibrant and balanced, with a fruity and lingering finish. Wine with a great capacity for evolution.

Perfect as an aperitif or with chicken and parmesan salad or grilled fish.
