Clos des Chnes is one of Volnays most celebrated Premier Cru vineyards, perfectly situated higher on the slope where poorer, stonier soils yield wines of pure finesse and aromatic lift. These are classic Volnays.

In the warm and generous 2009 vintage, this site retains its signature elegance. The nose is lifted and perfumed, showing red cherry, raspberry, violets and subtle spice. On the palate, the wine is finely structured, with silky tannins and a vibrant core of fruit balanced by mineral tension. With a touch of age now, its a little savoury and complex – think earth, dried flowers and gentle sous-bois.
